Olset was facing a conversion rate issue with their Evernote integration. Only 50% of the visitors converted. Out of that figure, only 80% completed the process.

ABOUT THE APP

Olset is an Information as a Service (IaaS) software company developing new and innovative hotel booking technologies.

Their aim is to expedite the booking process and increase conversions for their Travel Industry partners.

DESIGNING AN ACTION PLAN

Our scope was to increase Crowdswell's user engagement by understanding the users' expectations and simplifying the app.

PHASE 1

Understanding the User’s Motivation While putting together a travel plan

Through Contextual Inquiry we were able to identify that,

  • The most important aspects users look for when choosing a hotel are price and location
  • Users don’t trust Hotel information.
  • An app needs to clearly explain its purpose for users to trust with their information.

PHASE 2

Restructuring Content Architecture Based on User Research

In 1 on 1 interviews with Olset users we discovered,

  • Travelers trust what other people say about a hotel.
  • They want to have control over the tools used to organize their trips.
  • If an app is not clearly explained, travelers don’t trust it.

PHASE 3

Restructuring Content Architecture Based on User Research

Our UX Research unveiled insights to implement new features that transformed Olset into a more engaging app by,

  • Redesigning the Olset + Evernote integration's task flow to make it more intuitive for users.
  • Designing a landing page that explains how the app works and its benefits.
  • Incorporating an authorization screen to explain to users how their data will be stored.

Understanding users' expectations improves conversion

Olset’s engagement increased considerably once we started making data-driven decisions based on our UX Research.
